Roller doors are garage doors that have a flexible curtain that wraps around a drum to open, similar to rolling up a carpet. The roller door, when compared to a panel or tilt door, is very low maintenance.
Panel doors and tilt doors have a variety of components such as hinges, cables, springs that are prone to breaking, cable drums, fittings etc. This causes tilt and panel doors to be fairly high maintenance and needless to say, the more parts you have, the more things that can go wrong. In contrast, the roller door really only needs a well-tensioned spring and clean tracks to operate smoothly. The only upkeep you really do is to clean the roller door tracks once every 2 or 3 months with a silicone-based spray. As well as this just pay attention to the tension of the door as well. If it is manual mode, the door should be able to hold itself up if you put it into a half-open position. If it starts to close the spring tension is too loose and will require professional service.
